Coming back to this video years later it's hilarious how people transitioned their gatekeepy opinions of 2010s Nu-Goth onto 2020s EGirl/Y2k type of goth. Whatever is trending for the decade there will be a goth version of it and gatekeepers just like to hate on anything trendy to feel unique. Now that skinny jeans, bowties, and racerback tops are no longer in fashion, I think it's time to acknowledge that Nu Goth has always been a valid form of Goth.

7 years later and pastel goth has been kinda dead for the past few years. but now people are learning about yami kawai and feeling nostalgic for 2010s tumblr, so theres a chance pastel goth will have a revival and be kinda a thing again.

I don't really understand your British accent because I'm Brazilian and my English is a little limited, but I liked your video, I've been goth since December 2022, and until then I didn't know my side, until I discovered nu goth, and I understood that many people used the image of goth just for aesthetics, but I have a passion for the entire subculture, when I discovered nu goth, I fell in love, I identified so much, I feel like I consume A LOT of gothic or headmetal books and music, but my style, my way of living, is totally Nugoth, I'm kind of sad that it's seen as a trend, because for me it's something very special ❤
